Dr. Gary W. Grey
Biography
Gary W. Grey was born in Taylor, MI in 1941. He found Christ as Savior at the age of 17, through the ministry of Dr. Leland Kennedy and the Wick Road Baptist Church of Taylor, MI. He surrendered his life to the Lord in 1960 and enrolled in Baptist Bible College.
Upon his graduation in 1963, he accepted the position of youth minister and associate pastor at the Alliance Baptist Temple in Alliance, OH, pastored by Dr. Lawrence Oney. He accepted the call to pastor his first church in 1967. Since that time he has pastored churches in Illinois, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.
His more than 40 years as a pastor have earned him a track record as a church builder and gifted leader. Under his leadership, one of his early pastorates saw a quadrupling in growth; another grew to a yearly average of over 900 with a high attendance of 1671. Missions giving has also shown consistent strength and growth in the churches he has pastored.
Dr. Grey has been actively involved in both the Baptist Bible Fellowship and Baptist Bible College and has consistently shown his love and gratitude for all he has received from both institutions. He has held various offices, serving for several terms as Trustee of Baptist Bible College, State Representative and State Fellowship Chairman, and in 2006 was elected President of the Baptist Bible Fellowship International.
In 1986 he was appointed to the office of Executive Vice President of Baptist Bible College, serving as the “on-campus” administrator until his resignation in May 1991. He held the position of Professor of Pastoral Theology for a period of 15 years. He was awarded an “Honorary Doctorate of Theology” by his beloved “Alma Mater” in 1989.
In December, 1990, Dr. Grey accepted the pastorate of the Park Crest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. He celebrated his 15th anniversary in November of 2005. The church has experienced consistent growth in decisions for Christ and baptisms as well as numerical and financial growth. Church attendance has grown to a high of over 900 and offerings have increased from $300,000.00 in 1990 to over $1.3 million in 2005 under his leadership.
In 1993, the church purchased adjacent land to expand the church campus to over 11 acres and a $200,000.00 remodeling of auditorium, offices and Sunday school building was completed in 1995. During those years, the church conducted two Sunday morning services because of lack of space.
In February of 2001, Dr. Grey presented the challenge of “Touching Tomorrow Together” and the church voted to begin plans for a new $4 million facility, which includes a 1,200 seat auditorium and a youth center. On June 17, 2001, after many months of praying, planning and church member involvement, the church broke ground for its new facilities. Dr. Grey expresses great love and appreciation for the wonderful church family that God has given him. They have responded with great faith and vision by promising over $1,215,000.00 over the next three years to meet the challenge they have been given.
In February of 2003, the beautiful auditorium was dedicated. The church is continuing in growth and evangelism of the community.
